DMC Museum Collection Since 1746

Discover the first ever DMC Museum Exhibition in Singapore. Since 1746, DOLLFUS-MIEG & Compagnie, or DMC has made its name as the world’s most recommended embroidery floss maker. This exhibition showcases the history of DMC and various type of embroidery threads. In the 18th century, the process of “Mercerisation” allows the birth of DMC Spécial Mouliné, which becomes the world’s best-selling embroidery thread.

The exhibition consists of original charts of Thérèse de Dillmont, the creator of Encyclopedia of Needlework that is published in 1886. It is the first ever publication to compile models and instructions of embroidery, crochet, knitting and lace.

This exhibition will also feature DMC heritage collection that comprises embroidered pieces, which are cataloged and mounted in black frames in the 1930s. The collection encompasses rare and ancient Coptic and Chinese embroiderers, brocade fabrics, German samplers, crochet samples and lace around the world.
